The Ordeal

A few days before Christmas, traveling entertainer Marc Stevens is stuck at nightfall in a remote wood in the swampy Hautes Fagnes region of Li�ge, his van conked out. An odd chap who's looking for a lost dog leads Marc to a shuttered inn; the owner gives Marc a room for the night. Next day, the innkeeper, Mr. Bartel, promises to fix the van, demands that Marc not visit the nearby village, and goes through Marc's things while the entertainer takes a walk. At dinner that night, Bartel laments his wife's having left him, and by next day, Marc is in a nightmare that may not end.

Meanwhile, there are 8 1/2 million other children who are quite literally slaves. We see a family sell their son to a fisherman, who has made promises of school to his older boys that he has not kept. We meet a girl who was sold into a brothel and kept in a cage when she wasn\'t serving clients. The zari industry in India has children working in its sweatshops, doing brutally tedious labor for 18 hours or more a day. We meet children who have endured such work. Omaar concludes that tradition and culture, that the fact that these things have gone on for years, are not excuses for allowing them to continue.$

With help from Goldie and another cannon, he subdues the crew, wrapping them in the sail and depositing them in the hold. He and Kidd have a swordfight, but their swords melt together. Kidd chases Felix up the mast, then foolishly cuts off his own support. He falls into the hold. They sail for home, where Felix fires off cannonloads of gold coins.$
